The Medal of Honor

Did you ever wondered what our flag represent? I believe the flag represents freedom and equality. What about freedom? What does it really mean? I believe freedom means that everyone has an equal sure of what there is to get. So then, what is the Medal of Honor?

Well, to me, the Medal of Honor is the highest award given to an american soldier. It is such an important award that even the presedent has to salute you when he sees you. That shows that even the presedent should respect you. The medal also shows that the awardee is a hero.

I think to recive the Medal of Honor, you have to show acts of courage and selflessness. On the battle field, the awardees had shown courage when they engaged the enemy, even if the chance of survival was at its slimest. There were also some soldiers that helped their wounded comrades, even when that soldier was wounded himself. They were all afraid, but they stood their ground and continued to do their job.

I have heard some of the awardees say that it was easier to win the Medal of Honor that it is too wear it. I think that they say this because seeing the medal reminds them of that battle. They may remember the fact that one of their friends died. They might also remember all the bad thoughts going through their mind. Or maybe they just arn't use to the fact that everyone has to salute them.

So, the Medal of Honor is the highest award given to an american soldier. It is a sign that the peson wearing it has the respect of others.Although the person might not like to wear it for whatever reason. That is what the Medal of Honor means to me.
